Terms of Service
Last updated: August 2026
The service
Northeast Elitist ("we", "us", "our") is an editorial publication offering articles, comments, bookmarks, and an email newsletter. By accessing or using the site, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the site.
Accounts
Some features (commenting, reactions, bookmarks) require an account. You agree to provide accurate registration information, keep your password confidential, and take responsibility for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
You may delete your account at any time from your account page. Deletion removes your account, comments, reactions, and bookmarks permanently. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
Newsletter
Creating an account enrolls you in our newsletter by default; we disclose this at registration. You can opt out at any time in your account settings, and every newsletter email will include an unsubscribe link. Direct newsletter sign-up (without an account) is also optional and can be withdrawn the same way.
Comments and user content
You retain ownership of the comments and content you post. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the site.
You agree not to post content that is:
- Unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or hateful
- Spam, advertising, or self-promotion unrelated to the discussion
- Infringing on others' intellectual property or privacy rights
- Deliberately false or misleading
We may moderate, hide, or remove content and suspend accounts at our discretion, but we are not obligated to monitor all user content and are not responsible for it.
Our content
Articles, design, branding, and site code are our property (or used with permission) and may not be reproduced beyond normal reading, sharing, and linking without our written consent. Sharing links to our articles — with attribution — is always welcome.
Disclaimers
The site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Editorial content is opinion and analysis, not professional advice.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site, including lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the site is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100).
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time and will post the current version here with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the site will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts.
